School Councils

SCHOOL SITE COUNCILS (SSC)
The SSC is the decision-making council for Consolidated Application programs operated at the school to improve student achievement.

COMPENSATORY EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEES (CEAC)
Advise and make recommendations to the principal and the SSC on the development of an effective educational program and plan that raises the achievement of disadvantaged students.

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC)
Advise and make recommendations to the principal and the SSC on the development of an effective educational program and plan that raises the achievement of English learner students.


Duties of Committee Officers

Chairperson
  • Plan agenda
  • Preside at regular meetings
  • Coordinate the functions of the committee
  • Maintain order at all meetings
  • Be fair and impartial
  • With committee approval, sign the budget and budget modifications if necessary
  • Assist in the development of the School Compensatory Education Plan

Vice-Chairperson
  • Assist the Chairperson
  • Perform the duties of the chairperson in the absence of that officer
  • Participate in the planning of the monthly agenda
  • Facilitate the functioning of committees/task forces as outlined in school bylaws

Secretary
  • Record and read the minutes of all meetings
  • Maintain a written record of all meetings
  • Keep a roster of membership
  • Keep a record of attendance
  • Perform other duties as delegated

Parliamentarian
  • Assist the chairperson in maintaining order at all meetings
  • Be familiar with the bylaws of the committee, rules of parliamentary procedure, and Robert’s Rules of Order.

Representative (for ELAC & CEAC)
  • Attend District 1 monthly meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month
  • Bring information to school and disseminate at school meetings

Alternate (for ELAC & CEAC)
  • Serve in the absence of the representative
  • Maintain communication with the representative
