I am honored to be the Principal of Superior Street Elementary School since 2005.  I am so proud that Superior became a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School, a 2008 California Distinguished School, and a five time recipient of as a Title 1 Academic Achievement Award School.  We have been nominated again for the 2012 California Distinguished School Award. It truly is a pleasure to collaboratively work with the students, teachers, staff, parents/guardians and community members.  Superior is both a Professional Learning Community and a family working together with a shared vision of a “Quest for Excellence for ALL of the Students.”

I have been in education for over 27 years. I received my teaching credential from University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA. I taught elementary education for over fifteen years from kindergarten through fourth grades.  I was on the Literacy Cadre for Los Angeles Unified School District. I then became a Literacy Coach at both Lemay Street Elementary and Stagg Street Elementary School and trained teachers for three years. I provided professional development for the Governor’s Institute.  I developed many professional developments and curriculum for Los Angeles Unified School District. After completing my Administrative Credential and Master’s Degree at California State University at Northridge, CSUN, I became the Assistant Principal at Lemay Elementary School, A California Distinguished School and Blue Ribbon School. Fortunately, my path then brought me to become the Principal of Superior Elementary School.

I am blessed that I have been married to my husband, Richard, for over 31 years. We have two extraordinary daughters, Heather and Gena.  Heather is following in my footsteps and has just become an elementary school teacher.  Gena is in her first year of medical school in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

I truly believe that if you reach for the stars for every child by setting your vantage point to the highest level then anything is possible. My philosophy understands that every child is different and yet I look to the possibility of every child.
