Youth Services
Playground Program
2nd - 5th Grades ONLY!
The child MUST have a signed permission form by the parent or guardian to participate.
The school playground will be open daily at dismissal time until 6:00 pm beginning the first day of school. This program is ONLY for 2nd through 5th grade. Kindergarten and First Graders may NOT stay on the After-School Playground.
This is not a child-care program. It is a “permissive” recreation program. Participants arrive and leave at their own discretion and of their own volition. Participation is a privilege. Students must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the rules and regulations of the school and playground. If students are not following any of the After-School Rules they can be suspended from the program.
Once a student is in the after-school playground program for that day, they may NOT leave the campus and then return to the program. They may NOT go to the “7-11" store or any other place and then return. Please discuss this important safety rule with your child.
Please note that Youth Services (YS) Playground Program
will close promptly at 6:00 p.m. The last hour from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. will focus on homework. It is each parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to provide appropriate supervision for his/her child(ren) at the close of the program to ensure their safety and well-being. Please pick up your child on time!
The following procedures ensure continuous supervision of children left unattended when the playground closes:
* YS Field Offices remain open until the last child leaves the playground.
* The YS playground staff attempts to contact individuals listed on the school emergency card.
* At the conclusion of one hour of unsuccessful attempts to contact the parent or designee, a child protective agency (Sheriff, LAPD, etc.) is contacted to assume responsibility for the supervision and safety of the child.
The school administrator and School Police are notified of any child taken into protective custody. The parking lot gate will be unlocked so you may park there ONLY between 4:00 and 6:00 pm and walk to the yard to pick up your child. Parents please do not honk your horns for your children at anytime as we want to respect our neighbors and community.
